The Ballad of Port Llast

I met my love
adrift waters of green and blue
In briney cove
Aloft a timber of scarlet hue

Her hair was fine
as silken gold
And her sparkling eyes
held secrets to unfold

My ship had crashed
against the reef
Not far from Port Llast
assailing my grief

She sang soft words
and calmed my soul
In Istishian verse
to cure my woes

To her home I was taken
there she nursed my wounds
In good health I awakened
And in my arms she swooned

We had a few nights of passion
but shortly did they last
For from the sea I’d been stolen-
and to the sea I’d be recast!

It was then that he arrived
a sailor like myself
In a wreck he’d nearly died
so she nursed him back to health

Fickle as the sea she came from
she forgot the spell she’d cast
and my body was found broken
upon the shores of Port Llast!
